White fillings involve the use of composite resin to restore, strengthen and repair teeth. They are tooth coloured materials and are available in a number of shades in order to provide a filling which is discreet and not as noticeable as traditional metal fillings.
The procedure for a white filling is the same as for traditional fillings except they do not require as extensive cavity preparation as they are held in place by bonding to the tooth.
In certain situations where they are being used to repair a tooth and no decay is present, the tooth may not require any preparation before the filling material is used to build the tooth back.
