Composite bonding can be described as an amalgamation between a veneer and a filling. It’s used to repair cracks and chips and to address discoloured teeth.

What is cosmetic bonding?

A minimally invasive solution, composite bonding is more cost-effective than treatments like veneers and crowns. It’s a restorative, cosmetic and versatile dental treatment that renders your tooth or teeth healthy again and is able to improve the appearance.

What can I expect from cosmetic bonding treatment?

Your dentist will choose a composite resin that is the closest match to your natural teeth. The surface of the tooth being treated is roughened and a liquid is applied, ensuring the bonding agent is secured in place. Following on from this, the composite resin material is applied to the tooth in incremental layers and the Dentist shapes and moulds this specific to your tooth in order to create the desired outcome.

Before having this treatment, your dentist may recommend having a diagnostic wax up created. This is when the Dentist sends moulds of your current teeth to a dental lab and asks them to create a mock up based on your current teeth, with features of the desired look. Once returned, this is reviewed with you to see if you would be happy with the proposed outcome. When you have finally approved this, it is used to create your bespoke smile using the minimally invasive technique of cosmetic bonding.
